In Case There Was Any Doubt...

Remember the post we did a while back on the Chase Sapphire card that was offering $400 cash or $500 in airfare after the first $3,000 spent? Well, just in case you thought it was too good to be true, we got our check today! We opened this card a few months back and basically used it to make all our every day and large purchases (being careful not to spend on unnecessary or extra things just for the sake of meeting our goal!). We were sure to pay the balance off each month so that we never had to pay interest. Now that we have the check, we'll be closing the account before getting a bill for the annual fee (which was waved for the first year).

Now, if you're like me, you have heard that opening up too many cards and then proceeding to cancel them could hurt your credit. Well, we have excellent credit, and the odds of dropping a point or two seemed minor in light of earning 400 extra bucks! Aside from that, Julia, who originally shared the link to this post, has a degree in finance and worked in banking for many years. Julia personally took advantage of this offer as well and assured me that doing this would not hurt your credit, as long as you stay current on your payments and don't max it out, etc. Well, if Julia says it's OK, then it's OK with me! I'm not sure what Dave Ramsey would say about this, and if you are not inclined to use credit cards, then this is not for you.
