Today we visited the Butterfly Conservatory at Oakland Mall
with Stacy from Flights of Delight
If you're in the Metro Detroit area, go see it before they close April 19th!
Everyone had the opportunity to let a butterfly sit on their finger.
You could even use a little sugar water to entice them if they weren't cooperating.
All I kept thinking of was this clip from Brian Regan! HAHA

It was a fun experience! Children under 10 are free and adults are $3
Half of the kids were afraid of the butterflies...
but still seemed to enjoy watching!
They had a free craft for the kids that I thought would be fun to share!
We were also able to purchase mini butterfly kits that contain
2 caterpillars you can watch build cocoons and turn into butterflies!

Color the butterfly and cut it out. Insert a short piece of a straw through the butterfly. Cut two pieces of thread and push them through the straw. Tape one end of each piece to the left and right wings (as seen above).
The other ends of the string will come out the back.
Hold onto the back side of the straw and pull the
strings to make the butterflies wings move!
Right click on the image above and save to print for the craft!
