$30 DIY Kids Picnic Table Tutorial

I love giving the kids the opportunity to play outside. We also enjoy eating outside. But when it comes to little ones who don't fit the adult patio set or an adult picnic table, it is just easier to eat inside.  For Mother's Day this year, I wanted a kids picnic table.

We went all around looking for one, but they seemed expensive and not quite what I was looking for. My husband crafted my ideal kids picnic table! Needless to say I absolutely LOVE it!! The size is slightly larger than the average kid's table, allowing adults to sit at it comfortably as well. The total cost including fasteners was $30. Here's how we did it:

The 4 table top boards  and two seat boards are 48 inches long and are 5/4 treated, deck board.  All other wood used is treated two by fours. The board that the four top boards screws into are  20 1/2 in length.

These four boards diagonally cut are 26 inches long from longest tip to tip. The supporting cross boards underneath are 20 at the bottom and 13 1/2 at the top.

The two horizontal boards that hold the seat boards are 40 inches long.

When he was done he drilled  hole in the top to allow for a beach umbrella to provide some much needed shade :) ~Julia
